Call for Applications!

On behalf of my brothers, I want to take the opportunity to request scholarship essays from eligible seniors. We are excited to help you get some money to fulfill your dreams of a college education or a technical trade degree!

Essays will be accepted at the scholarship email address (essays@meghanslegacy.com) until April 18th 2015. You are highly encouraged to reach out to Andy (andy@meghanslegacy.com) or to all of us at the “essays” address to let us know you’re working on your project so we can be looking for it.

After the deadline on April 18th, we will evaluate scholarships for eligibility and worth and announce winners in May. Checks will be paid out in August.

Best wishes for your essays! We look forward to reading them!

Request for Donations

Meghan was a fun, quirky, animal lover who cherished her time on the farm and her time with her animals. And this scholarship fund is designed to keep her memory alive in a way that will help students for years to come.

It’s hard sometimes to imagine what she’d be like now if she were still alive, but one thing I know she would have done was go to college. We want to offer a few high school kids the opportunity to do that in her stead.

The Smith family, through the Meghan Diane Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, will be funding $250 scholarships for two incoming freshmen as possible, and we hope to continue to do this for years to come.

To help us help more young men and women, please consider donating to the Meghan Diane Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund. Any amount will help us reach our goal. Checks can be mailed to the The Meghan Diane Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Girard National Bank, and addressed to 100 E. Forest, Girard, Kansas 66743. We hope in the future to offer online giving.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Your help will help us keep a precious girl’s memory alive and help others as we do so.

Sincerely,

Andy, Nate, and Dan

Welcome to the 2015 Season!

On behalf of the Meghan Diane Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, I want to welcome you to our new permanent home on the internet and to the 2015 scholarship season. We are very excited to join you in the search for a scholarship and look forward to reading your essays!

Look around the site and learn more about the scholarship and our sister, Meghan. You can learn about what she stood for, how she passed, and more importantly, what made her “her” and why we honor her through this scholarship fund.
